New Years Day 010112 – Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all the members, friends, volunteers & Committee Members of the UAAA. May 2012 bring health, wealth & happiness to you all.

One of my new years resolutions is to spend more time walking the river & burns in 2012.

So it was good to get started on the 1st of January 2012.

By the afternoon was desperate to get out in the fresh air – my plan was a drive up to Glengavel and a walk down the Burn to the Reservoir.

On my way noticed one of our stalwart members having a New Years Day cast down at Broons Brigg – so it was great to meet up with Davy & wish him a happy 2012. He had managed a few good out of season Brownies including one of a pound and half – but just had not been able to catch that elusive UAAA Grayling.

Had a wee chat & left him to get on with his fishing & headed up the road to the car park at the bottom of the walk up to Auchengilloch where the Covenantors met in secret to worship. Wasn’t the only soul who fancied a New Years day walk as the car park was nearly full.

Headed in the opposite direction of the walkers down towards the Reservoir. The water has been high for days but the Glengavel Burn as always ran absolutely clear like gin.

It was a great bracing wee walk & managed a good photo of Glengavel with Loudonhill in the Background – tommorow morning i’m off on a walk up to the bothys above the Reservoir.
